Remember Larry Fleischer

Monday, November 2, 2009, 11:09 am Pacific Time

FLASH FLASH

The Los Angeles County Coroner's office has confirmed that Dr. Lawrence Raymond Fleischer passed away yesterday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank, California yesterday at 7:25 pm Pacific Time, cause of death listed as "full arrest" (indicating probable heart attack as the original cause). No autopsy was necessary because it was from natural causes. Dr. Fleischer had suddenly collapsed while waiting to be picked up at the Burbank Airport and suffered small cuts on the chin and jaw as a result of the fall. He had recently celebrated his 64th birthday on October 11, 2009

Please see Ella Mae Lentz's vlog, praising Larry as a man of integrity. He had just given the closing address at the ASLTA conference in Arizona and was in good spirits, then took the airplane flight home to California. Here is the link to the vlog.

Dr. Fleischer was a giant in the field of Deaf Education and he will be greatly missed. He's former professor at Gallaudet University.
